Tanning all day everyday.
So it's almost summer and I'm excited. I have three things going on this summer. One of those is a maybe but I really hope it's happening. You'll see why. The first is working, obviously. The second is Florida to meet up with a friend and I'll be staying with her. We are planning to go to LeakyCon and Harry Potter World! The third is New York City. I need the third to happen. I can see myself in New York City. I want myself there. I found myself browsing the interwebs one night for an hour looking at apartments and jobs in the city. I need help. Or a plane ticket. You decide. But tanning is what I've been doing mainly. Some people hate it but it's so relaxing (yet sometimes can give me a headache depending on the time of day). Just go out with a bottle of tanning oil and a book and you're good to go. I also got a new book called the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood which I've seen the movie adaptation. It's a mother-daughter fighting-memory-flashback kind of book.

So I'm just getting back to work lately. I had some of the weekend off, which was good for me to destress a little bit. I went to Montreal with my two friends for one of their birthdays and it was a lot of fun! We had tickets to see David Guetta at New City Gas so I got to "rave" it up since the music is very EDM. So yeah, my friend asked me a few days before what I was wearing to the concert because she was going to warn me to steer clear of anything too nice or anything with too many layers. The club/concert place is 200 degrees basically so she told me to dress in a tank and shorts, beach clothes, right? I don't have beachy stuff really. I like my shirts buttoned and sleeves rolled and my shorts are nice. I do have beachy shorts but the tanks no sirreeee. So I went to Zara, where I get a lot of my clothes basically, and had to find some stuff. Here is what I got: And the last photo is what I ended up wanting to wear! The graphic tank was cool to me and it made me look quite tanned so A+ to that. We took the Greyhound from Ottawa to Montreal which wasn't too long and we talked and played phone games for most of it. When we got to the beautiful Montreal we got food, checked into our hotel and then started to drink for the night. I decided to drink wine because it tastes good and it's simple because I'm not bringing caeser fix-ins with me. No wayyy. I later found out from some people we were meeting up with that guys going to New City Gas had to abide to a dress code. Wait there's more. No shorts allowed. And no sleeveless shirts. Did I mention the temperature in this place? What is that about? That is not right?? So I went in pants and the t-shirt I showed in the pictures as well, with my other shirt underneath. Guys ended up removing the outter shirts after so I did too. But it was still boiling. So the concert started at 9 (we got there at midnight) and David Guetta started playing at 1:30 am. We were out by 3 am and got back to the hotel by 6 am because we went to someone's place afterward. The saddest thing?? I couldn't even have my McDonald's after drinking because it was so early and only served breakfast. But other than that it was a lot of fun and now I'm back to reality. But here are some photos of the day/night! I don't know about you but my favourite drink in the summer (all year) is a caeser. Wine is a close second, but the caeser has the perfect amount of savouriness and spice that makes it perfect for a tanning session in the backyard, patio drinks with friends, or just sipping it while watching tv (shh).
It happens to be a favourite in my family as well. I remember drinking virgin caesers when I was younger at my cottage. Back then the drink was just the Clamato juice and salt (no pepper whatsoever because spice was the worst when I was a wee thing). And then I realized that a lot of restaurants have it on their drink menu and I kept tasting it and I would ask for no spice but really lemony. How it's changed now. I went to this bar one night and my drunk self ordered a caeser without specifying the spice issue. But it was so delish! It was salty and spicy and perfect. And now I couldn't order a non-spicy caeser. And I for one, make a REALLY good caeser. And I know I probably say I do the best at a lot of things (making chai lattes at work or writing scripts) but this is different. This is also just how I make and like the drink, but there are tons of variations so if you find any good recipes let me know! Some people have added barbecue sauce for a southwestern flavour and Jamie Oliver adds jalapeño vodka which imparts spice and yummy vodka-ness without adding too much spice in other ways. Full recipe below!! Makes 12 - 13 muffins You know when you see bubble wrap and you just HAVE to pop it? I'm that way when I find a good recipe for muffins. This one is so delicious and absolutely scrumptious (hence the title) that I had to share it.
I went to my friend Leandra's today (littlemissfresh) and her mother had a wonderful recipe for carrot muffins. The recipe calls for vegetable oil but Leandra's mother puts melted coconut oil instead! It inputs that little bit of sweetness and flavour that a plain vegetable oil doesn't, in my opinion anyway. Her mother thinks it might also help the texture! And the recipe as a whole is really simple as well! 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 1 large egg 3/4 cup orange juice 1/2 cup melted coconut oil 1/2 cup sugar 2 cups shredded carrots 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional) Full recipe below! It's my 21st birthday today! It's been a quiet day but I'm happy that I've hit the big 2-1. The weather today was BEAUTIFUL which makes me super excited for this summer and how I'll be in Florida and hopefully New York City. Very exciting!
Bigger and better things coming up hopefully! Eric Pritchard I'm a Barista at Starbucks and right now my muscles hurt.
It's frappuccino happy hour at Starbucks right now, better known as just "frappy hour" which calls upon the teenagers because half-priced fraps. For us, it's making those frappuccinos. The amount of times I pumped a syrup bottle, I'd be rich. Or whatever that saying is. But it's fun as well because me and two others are making these drinks and the drinks are coming second to us talking through it all. Like I was told it was this crazy busy time (which it is) and so many fraps (which it is), but it's also this crazy cool experience because you make a drink so quickly and you're chatting about other things. By the end of this frappy hour today my pants were completely soaked because I was stationed right in front of the ice bin, so melting ice hellloooooo. I was also covered in mocha syrup down my arms and I think I got something in my eye. And the same tomorrow. I sleep now. Eric Prit chard You should always climb higher in life.
I think people who don't have any dreams in life are people I don't quite understand. I think I spend more time thinking of what is going to happen in my life than what is happening right here in the now. And that's the fun part. I've been told I'm really unrealistic. I am, if I'm being honest. There is this picture in my mind that is of me, wearing clothes from Club Monaco that I'll one day be able to afford no problem, with a haircut that suits me so well, in an apartment that looks like me in apartment form. New York City is that place right now. It changes every few months, though. Last year it was L.A. only because tanning is important to me and celebrities might spot me, right? A Brownstone in Brooklyn is my dream though. But let's look at some facts: I'm twenty-one years old in almost six days and how will I get there? (I'm in Ottawa, Canada, did I mention that part?) I'm also the owner of a dog who is very high maintenance a lot of the time and I'm working as a barista at Starbucks. Right now my plan is to win the lottery. Wish me luck and goodnight.
