I don't know about you but my favourite drink in the summer (all year) is a caeser. Wine is a close second, but the caeser has the perfect amount of savouriness and spice that makes it perfect for a tanning session in the backyard, patio drinks with friends, or just sipping it while watching tv (shh).
It happens to be a favourite in my family as well. I remember drinking virgin caesers when I was younger at my cottage. Back then the drink was just the Clamato juice and salt (no pepper whatsoever because spice was the worst when I was a wee thing). And then I realized that a lot of restaurants have it on their drink menu and I kept tasting it and I would ask for no spice but really lemony. How it's changed now.
I went to this bar one night and my drunk self ordered a caeser without specifying the spice issue. But it was so delish! It was salty and spicy and perfect. And now I couldn't order a non-spicy caeser. And I for one, make a REALLY good caeser. And I know I probably say I do the best at a lot of things (making chai lattes at work or writing scripts) but this is different.
This is also just how I make and like the drink, but there are tons of variations so if you find any good recipes let me know! Some people have added barbecue sauce for a southwestern flavour and Jamie Oliver adds jalapeño vodka which imparts spice and yummy vodka-ness without adding too much spice in other ways.

The mason jar cup is optional, but I love it. So fill it with ice to get it cold and then save those ice cubes for the actual drink. The star of the drink is of course the Clamato which is clam and tomato juice. Sounds strange but it's really tasty.
First start by rimming your glass. This both looks good but tastes yummy. Most people will use lemon to moisten the rim and then dip it in celery salt, which is good, but I take a different approach. I rim with lemon and then use Montreal steak spice, which I used one night because I ran out of celery salt. And I've never gone back.
So start by slicing a wedge of lemon, running it around the lip of the glass. Then pour the spice in a ramequin and the spice will stick the lemon. Easy!

Then it's time for the alcohol! This is optional (not). Put an ounce (or more) in there and it's time to build the drink! I like to add a lot of Worcestershire sauce and less of the Tabasco because the latter overpowers in my opinion. But it's up to you and how you like it. I also like to squeeze the lemon I cut that wedge from for a good balance.
And don't waste the steak spice! Throw it in.
Finally just pour in the Clamato juice and you're all set! All you need is a good garnish and I personally love the hot and pickled vegetables you get at the store (cauliflower is my favourite) and a good pickled pepper. Enjoy!
